Penis Envy Uncut

Penis Envy Uncut is a unique offshoot of the well-known Penis Envy strain. The term "Uncut" refers to the characteristic veils that cover the gills where spores develop but are rarely opened. As a natural variation of the famous Penis Envy strain, Penis Envy Uncut stands out as a distinct hybrid. This strain lives up to its reputation for strength, and many believe it is significantly more potent than its parent strain. It is relatively straightforward to grow, though it typically yields smaller quantities due to the reduced size of the mushrooms. However, these mushrooms are notably dense and retain much of their size after drying, meaning that the final harvest, though lighter in weight, remains potent.

What is Penis Envy Uncut?

Penis Envy Uncut is a strain of Psilocybe cubensis that was created as a genetic modulation of the original Penis Envy, either by cross-breeding it or isolating the specific mutations found during the growth cycle. This mushroom strain is well known for its exceptional potency and intense psychedelic effects. Penis Envy Uncut is not only highly potent and visually striking but also relatively easy to cultivate. While it may not be the best choice for a complete beginner, this strain can be successfully grown with minimal equipment and basic knowledge.

Origins of Penis Envy Uncut Strain

The origins of the Penis Envy Uncut strain are shrouded in mystery, much like many hybrid strains derived from Penis Envy. The history is unclear, with some speculating that the details were either lost over time or never documented. There are two speculations, one claiming that Penis Envy Uncut may be a hybrid between Penis Envy and the PF-Strain. On the other hand, the more plausible suggestion is that the Penis Envy Uncut strain is the result of isolating a mutation from the original Penis Envy strain.

While the history of this particular variant remains vague, the original Penis Envy strain has a fascinating and debated backstory. The strain’s origins have been a topic of discussion in the mushroom community for decades. The original Penis Envy strain gained recognition in the 1980s, though it was initially sold under the name Amazonian. The first known image of Penis Envy appeared on the cover of the rare book Cubensis Aquarium Gardening by Richard Guitierrez, published in 1976. It’s believed that Terence McKenna collected samples of this strain from the Amazon, and Guitierrez obtained some of these samples through a third party. This marked the beginning of the Penis Envy strain's evolution.

Penis Envy Uncut Potency

Penis Envy Uncut is known for its exceptional potency, likely even surpassing the original Penis Envy strain. This variant, along with others in the Penis Envy series, is often considered in a league of its own. Its unique appearance and extraordinarily high psilocybin levels set it apart, to the point that it's almost regarded as a different species. Given the popularity of Penis Envy Uncut and other variants in the series, there’s an abundance of information on their potency. Penis Envy Uncut showed an average potency of 2.04% of total tryptamines. This makes Penis Envy Uncut more than twice potent compared to the averagePsilocybe cubensis strain that has average tryptamine levels between 0.60% and 0.80%.

When grown under optimal conditions, Penis Envy Uncut can yield incredibly potent mushrooms. However, if the growing conditions are less than ideal, the potency can be significantly reduced. Some tested samples had significantly lower tryptamine concentrations.

How to Grow Penis Envy Uncut

Like many strains in the Penis Envy series, Penis Envy Uncut is a surprisingly easy variety of Psilocybe cubensis to grow. In general, most psilocybin-containing mushrooms are relatively straightforward to grow, with only a few species posing challenges when cultivated outside their natural habitat. In this guide, we will teach you how to grow Penis Envy Uncut using the monotub method. While it may not be the most discreet or space-efficient option, it excels in delivering bountiful harvests.

Preparing the Substrate

The substrate is essential for providing all the nutrients your mycelium needs throughout the growing process. Mushrooms are generally not picky eaters and can thrive on a variety of substrates. However, the following recipe has proven to be particularly effective for growing Penis Envy Uncut.

Prepare the Coco Coir

  • Place half a brick of coco coir in an 18–20L (4.5–5.5 gallon) bucket.
  • Bring 1.75–2L (0.45–0.55 gallon) of water to a boil and pour it into the bucket.
  • Cover the bucket and let it sit for 15 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes, break up the coir evenly with a stick.
  • Allow the mixture to hydrate for one hour.

Mix the Substrate

  • In a large tote, combine 3.75L (1 gallon) of cow manure, two teaspoons of hydrated lime, and 5L (1.3 gallons) of vermiculite.
  • Mix the ingredients thoroughly.
  • Add the hydrated coco coir to the tote and mix thoroughly again.

Sterilize the Substrate

  • Transfer the prepared substrate into an oven bag, removing any excess air before sealing it.
  • Pierce a few small holes in the top of the bag and cover each hole with micropore tape.
  • Place the bag into a pressure cooker and cook for 90 minutes at 15 PSI.
  • Once done, allow the pressure cooker to depressurize and cool down overnight to ensure everything remains sterile.

Spawning

Spawning is the process of introducing the colonized grain spawn to the substrate. You can easily create spawn by mixing Penis Envy Uncut spores with sterilized grain in a jar and letting it colonize.

Transfer the Substrate

  • Empty the contents of the oven bag into the bottom of the monotub.
  • Place your spawn on top of the substrate.
  • Distribute the spawn as evenly as possible and spread it out to flatten, but avoid pressing down on the top of the substrate.

Prepare for Colonization

  • Cover the mixture with a sheet of aluminum foil.
  • Poke holes in the foil to allow air exchange.
  • Cover these holes with micropore tape.
  • Also, cover any holes on the side of the monotub with micropore tape.

Incubate

  • Place the lid on the monotub.
  • Allow the spawn to colonize the substrate for approximately 10 days at around 79°F (26°C).

Fruiting

Fruiting Penis Envy Uncut with the monotub method is simple and easy. Just follow these steps:

Apply the Casing Layer

Remove the aluminum foil from the monotub. Prepare the casing layer by combining three parts vermiculite with one part water in a large tote, mixing until it’s evenly hydrated. Spread the casing layer evenly over the substrate, up to about

Mist and Maintain

  • Use a spray bottle to mist the walls of the monotub.
  • Close the lid securely.
  • Place the monotub in an area with ambient light, avoiding direct sunlight.
  • Maintain a temperature of around 70°F (21°C) and keep a fan running nearby to enhance fresh air exchange.

Fruiting

  • You should start to see mushrooms forming within 5–14 days.
  • Harvest them when the cap edges start to curve outwards.
