Psilocybe bohemica is a psychedelic mushroom within the Psilocybe genus. Predominantly found in Central Europe, this mushroom features a conical cap and a thin stem giving it a quite unique appearance. The cap, often brown or reddish-brown, can grow up to 1.2 inches in diameter while the stem is usually white or pale yellow and can reach up to 2.5 inches long.

Psilocybe Bohemica vs Psilocybe Serbica

 In 1983, Czech mycologist Svatopluk Šebek described Psilocybe bohemica, following Moser and Horak's naming of Psilocybe serbica two decades earlier. Šebek named it after Bohemia, a region in the Czech Republic. Until the late 2000s, it was widely accepted, even among mycologists, that these were distinct species. However, in 2010, DNA studies by Borovička and colleagues revealed that Psilocybe serbica, Psilocybe bohemica, Psilocybe arcana, and Psilocybe moravica are genetically identical.

The study of the relationships between different mushroom species is known as mushroom taxonomy. Just as humans share a common ancestor with other primates, all mushrooms are genetically connected. Cultivation

Growing Psilocybe bohemica can be rewarding, although it's much more challenging than growing regular P. cubensis. The process begins with introducing spores to a woodchip-infused agar medium. This initial step is crucial for ensuring that the mycelium, the vegetative part of the fungus, develops properly. Once the mycelium has colonized the agar, it is transferred to sterilized rye grain jars.
