Step by Step Guide

1. Sanitize The Working Area

Clean and disinfect your work area with wipes or a solution containing 70% isopropyl alcohol. This reduces the possibility of contamination.

2. Inoculate The Rice Bags

Disinfect the rice pouches thoroughly using alcohol wipes. Heat the tip of the spore syringe with a lighter until it glows red to ensure sterilization. Inject about 1 cc of spore solution into the center of each pouch. 

Afterward, secure the injection site with micropore tape to minimize the risk of contamination. Use a hole punch to create a small opening for gas exchange, then cover this hole with micropore tape to allow airflow while keeping the environment sterile.

3. Incubation

To enable the mycelium to completely colonize the rice, keep the inoculated rice bags in a warm, dark location for two to four weeks.

4. Prepare The Substrate

Boil your substrate in water and allow it to cool to pasteurize it. To get rid of possible contaminants, this procedure is essential.

5. Spawn to Bulk Transfer

Combine the colonized rice with the pasteurized substrate in a sizable container (such as a 20 qt tub) when the rice bags have completely colonized. Make sure the mixture has been distributed equally.

6. Fruiting

The substrate combination should be put in a fruiting room with indirect light and high humidity. To ensure fresh air exchange, fan the chamber and mist the substrate often.

7. Harvest

In a week or two, mushrooms will begin to show. When the caps start to open and the gills underneath are visible, harvest the mushrooms by cutting them with a knife or gently twisting and plucking the fruit bodies. Harvested mushrooms should be dried for long-term storage.
