Lizard King mushrooms are a one-of-a-kind and strong strain with a long history. These mushrooms were discovered in Mexico, and have gained popularity due to their quick growth and intense hallucinogenic qualities. They are unique in that they do not grow like other types of magic fungus. Most species of Psilocybe cubensis prefer to grow from animal waste or decaying material, while the Lizard King mushrooms we’re reportedly found grow on wood.
Lizard King Mushrooms, a strain as mysterious as its name suggests, is a relatively recent discovery to the world of psilocybin fungus. What differentiates LK Mushrooms is their distinct makeup, which contains roughly 0.3-0.5% psilocybin and psilocin. This places them in the medium strength category, making them appropriate for both seasoned and first-time psychedelic users. Their effects are described as a balanced combination of spiritual and physical sensations, providing insights as well as bodily rest.
Lizard King mushroom caps are normally beige while fresh, but dark beige or brown when dry. They are dense and thick, with a puffy appearance. The stems are pure white while fresh and light brown when dried. They normally measure 5 to 12 centimeters in height and 2 to 3 cm in diameter. Like other Psilocybe cubensis strains, Lizard King fungus causes blue bruises when the stems or caps are damaged, indicating the presence of psilocybin.
The Lizard King strain is named after the famed anonymous mycologist known as the "Lizard King" online. This mycologist discovered Lizard King and numerous other Mexicana species while exploring rural Northern Mexico. The strain was discovered growing on rotting wood. This is unusual for the Psilocybe cubensis species, and it is possible that this strain is the only one that grows on this type of substrate.
It is estimated that this mushroom variety grew to popularity in the 1960s. This is because its given name refers to the popular counterculture movement at the time. Jim Morrison, the lead singer of the famous worldwide rock band known as 'the Doors,' also went by the nickname Lizard King. His association with desert animals such as lizards and snakes gave him the nickname. Jim also recognized the lizard as his inner animal, or spiritual alter ego.
Lizard King is said to have medium potency when compared to other cubes, but its generated effects are comparable to Golden Teachers. However, it is unclear whether the strain was truly tested for average psilocybin content.
Users frequently describe visual hallucinations, increased sensory sensitivity, and a strong sense of euphoria. The effects are well-balanced, with both intellectual and visual stimulation. This strain is well-known for its ability to provide a powerful and delightful psychedelic experience without being too intense.
The effects begin 10 to 30 minutes after use, with the user immediately feeling both excitement, and pleasure. Taking on a journey with this strain is like accessing a hidden garden of the mind, with each turn revealing unexpected surprises and insights.
Unlike other psychedelic experiences, which might feel like a stormy ocean of thoughts and sensations, the Lizard King trip feels more like a peaceful river. It leads you into a realm of thought and enhanced sensory experience, where every moment is filled with clarity and wonder. The experience is frequently described as “grounded” yet “ethereal,” providing an ideal balance between exploring inner space and remaining attached to reality.
It's essential to provide time after the trip for returning and integration. Those fantastic insights won't help you if you don't grasp and learn from them. However, it is important to note that even a bad trip can be an amazing opportunity for education if you know how to work with the trip rather than against it.
Uncle Ben's Tek is a popular way for cultivating mushrooms, particularly among beginners, because it is simple and convenient. While they are originally found growing on decayed wood, Uncle Ben's Tek works equally well for this unique mushroom strain. The name stems from using pre-cooked rice pouches from the brand Ben's Original (previously known as Uncle Ben's). Lizard King spores can be found by searching the Fungi Maps platform, while the rest of the equipment is readily available at your local grocery shop.
1. Sanitize The Working Area
Clean and disinfect your work area with wipes or a solution containing 70% isopropyl alcohol. This reduces the possibility of contamination.
2. Inoculate The Rice Bags
Disinfect the rice pouches thoroughly using alcohol wipes. Heat the tip of the spore syringe with a lighter until it glows red to ensure sterilization. Inject about 1 cc of spore solution into the center of each pouch.
Afterward, secure the injection site with micropore tape to minimize the risk of contamination. Use a hole punch to create a small opening for gas exchange, then cover this hole with micropore tape to allow airflow while keeping the environment sterile.
3. Incubation
To enable the mycelium to completely colonize the rice, keep the inoculated rice bags in a warm, dark location for two to four weeks.
4. Prepare The Substrate
Boil your substrate in water and allow it to cool to pasteurize it. To get rid of possible contaminants, this procedure is essential.
5. Spawn to Bulk Transfer
Combine the colonized rice with the pasteurized substrate in a sizable container (such as a 20 qt tub) when the rice bags have completely colonized. Make sure the mixture has been distributed equally.
6. Fruiting
The substrate combination should be put in a fruiting room with indirect light and high humidity. To ensure fresh air exchange, fan the chamber and mist the substrate often.
7. Harvest
In a week or two, mushrooms will begin to show. When the caps start to open and the gills underneath are visible, harvest the mushrooms by cutting them with a knife or gently twisting and plucking the fruit bodies. Harvested mushrooms should be dried for long-term storage.
